What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Appraiser / Data Collector position at Neosho County?
The Neosho County Appraiser's Office is looking for a full-time & career minded individual to fill the position of Field Appraiser / Data Collector. This position's starting wage is dependent upon qualifications, and includes county benefits options such as health/dental/vision insurance, sick leave, vacation, retirement (KPERS & KPERS457) and more. The person chosen for this position will be required to comply with all state statutes, County, and departmental policies and procedures.

Physical requirements:
- Applicant will be working outside for extended periods of time.
- Applicant must be able to walk for extended periods over many types of uneven terrain.
- Applicant will be working in potentially hot, freezing, dirty, and/or smelly conditions.
- Applicant must have the ability use good judgement when dealing with the public.
- Applicant will be around unrestrained animals and must have the ability to judge their own safety. (i.e.: if it growls, do not pet it!)
Technical requirements:
- PROFICIENT COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED: Must demonstrate ability
- MS OFFICE: Work in Excel and Word
- Read and use a tape measure
- Navigate the entire county using supplied maps
- Possess the ability to work as a team member and in a single capacity
- Possess the ability to communicate in a professional manner both in person and over the phone.
- General Duties will include, but not be limited to, field inspection/data collection of all property types, observing/recording/reporting of existing/new structures on property countywide, data entry into a state server data base, general office duties including use of Microsoft Word and Excel, answering phones/taking messages, filing, filing, filing, etc.
- Applicant must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Prior experience is not required. Training/classes are mandatory with transportation/meals/lodging provided.
