Role Summary
\The Parents as Teachers Parent Educator is a key member of the Neosho School District team, responsible for providing parent education to families with children from birth to kindergarten entry. The successful candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
\Key Responsibilities
\- Provide parent education to families with young children through home visits, screenings, and group activities.
- Recruit and engage new families in the program through outreach and marketing efforts.
- Develop and implement strategies to support program participants and their families.
- Collaborate with other district staff to ensure a cohesive approach to early childhood education.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices in early childhood education through ongoing professional development.
Requirements
\Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
\- Hold a four-year degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, Vocational Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Child Development, with demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents.
- Have a two-year associate degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Nursing, with demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents.
- Completed sixty semester hours or more of credit from an academic degree-granting institution within the United States Department of Education's Directory of Post-Secondary Institutions, with two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents.
- Five years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents, with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Candidates must also successfully complete a week-long certification training through the Parents as Teachers National Center.
