Job Description
\The Parents as Teachers Parent Educator is responsible for providing parent education to families with children from birth to kindergarten entry. The successful candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
\Key Qualifications
\- Four-year degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, Vocational Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences, or Child Development, with demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents.
- Two-year associate degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Nursing, with demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents.
- Completed sixty semester hours or more of credit from an academic degree-granting institution within the United States Department of Education's Directory of Post-Secondary Institutions, with two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents.
- Five years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents, with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Certification Requirements
\Candidates must successfully complete a week-long certification training through the Parents as Teachers National Center.
