The Role
The Lighting Prep Engineer is the senior technical resource in the warehouse, responsible for the maintenance and preparation of Creative Technologys lighting equipment. The main focus of the role will be to ensure equipment is prepped for use on projects and dry hire work along with supporting in house and contract personnel on preparation work for larger projects.The role also includes responsibility for our small projector fleet.
The role includes maintenance and upkeep ensuring the equipment is operational to the highest standards as required identifying any issue for repair or for return to manufacturer.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the preparation of performance lighting equipment, to include automated/moving fixtures, LED, control, cabling, and effects.
- The role also includes responsibility for our fleet of projectors, lenses and associated metalwork. CT will provide the necessary training in this segment if required.
- Ability to read from LX plots, technical drawings, and fixture schedules to ascertain DMX Addressing and labelling of fixture numbers etc. at a advanced level.
- Understand and operate lighting consoles skills/experience to assist with in-house testing of equipment with skilled knowledge of DMX & IP
- Assist in solving technical challenges related to equipment shortages, tight turnarounds, and sudden technical changes
- Responsible for organising the upkeep of equipment and ongoing scheduled maintenance to ensure a healthy stock.
- Responsible for reporting damages, losses, and low stock levels to technical managers
- Monitoring stock movements and performing stock taking when required.
- Maintaining and promoting a tidy, well organised, workspace
- Excellent communication skills for communication/collaboration with the warehouse team, rental desk, and PMs
