Mechanical Technician - Camera Support

The purpose of this position is to execute the maintenance, repair, testing, and safety compliance of tripods, pan heads, and wheels (camera support equipment) at NEP’s Field Shop, ensuring that all equipment will operate at NEP standards and fulfills client requests. All equipment at NEP’s shop is kept in full working order assuring “just in time” inventory is ready to ship and fully functional when needed.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain, test, and repair full shop & fleet-wide compliment of tripods, pan heads, wheel assemblies, and support equipment.
• Establish & maintain service vendor relations for parts procurement, training and essential documentation.
• Oversee parts supply for maintaining all associated tripods, pan heads, wheel assemblies, and support equipment.
• Provide supervision/training to assistant technician(s) as needed.
• Provide technical assistance and occasional training to apprentices and field shop staff.
• Maintain records of work performed and provide necessary reports as requested.
• Maintain a low turnaround on equipment repairs and a high degree of accuracy in testing and repairs.
• Manage any necessary factory repairs from return authorization to equipment return to mobile unit.
• Contribute to the organization of the Field Shop and facilitate an efficient working environment.

Position Requirements:

• Technical or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Broadcasting related field or 5 years of industry-related/mechanical hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of camera build-up and operation with attention to tripod and pan head deployment.
• Must be able to utilize standard hand tools.
• Higher level mechanical skills a necessity. Must be able to follow repair documentation in applying the necessary skills to complete the task.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
• Travel may be required (both locally and to other company field shop locations).
