Purpose:
NEP is seeking is a highly trained and experienced Solutions Architect who has expertise designing IP broadcast and/or streaming solutions. The Solutions Architect should be experienced in all areas of broadcast infrastructure including Audio, Comms, Video, encode/decode, 2110 Networking, and cloud-based workflows to support NEPs Connected Solutions team. The position provides an opportunity to work with experienced, interdisciplinary Design and Broadcast Engineers, creating custom solutions with challenging customer requirements. While representing the Design team you will work on new initiatives for broadcast and streaming solutions in an IP 2110 environment.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create designs, including drawings and documentation for IP systems that meet customer requirements and NEP broadcast engineering best practices and standards.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Operations and Production teams to gather requirements and create high to mid-level technical designs.
- Work with the Project Manager, Finance, and Project Engineers to create plans for equipment requirements, labor needs, supplier bids, and installation plans.
- Meet with customers to understand project requirements and propose technical solutions.
- Responsible for creating cost analysis and bill of materials documentation. Work with Finance teams
- Collaborate with the team to build highly scalable, and resilient delivery infrastructure for video streaming or linear broadcasts.
- Be familiar with designing, developing and supporting video delivery in IP infrastructure, including vision mixing, multi-view and various video processing/routing systems
- Create, modify and read CAD drawings for project related activities
- Develop detailed engineering drawings for rack layout, system wiring and custom plates or cabling assemblies.
Position Requirements:
- A college degree in Broadcast, Network, or Software engineering is preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of broadcast engineering experience is required.
- Uses considerable judgment, independent action and initiative to analyze and resolve problems and make or develop recommendations.
- Familiarity with 2110 IP Based system and Datacenter design
- Experience with Public/Private Cloud architecture
- Works collaboratively with people in the group and in other parts of the organization; supporting others when requested.
- Effective communication skills, ability to prepare and present presentations to clients and various levels of employee populations.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, personable and easily adaptable to changing situations.
- Determines the real needs of internal and external customers by asking the right questions, listening, and confirming before acting.
- Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers.
- Moderate amount of travel required, including occasional travel to other NEP facilities, customer and vendor sites and industry events.
