What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Designer position at NES Fircroft?
My client is currently looking for 2 Senior Designers for their Sugarland, TX office!
These positions are focused on I&C and less on electrical. Electrical work is 480 and less (just to support instrumentation piece)
Candidates will be doing PLC & DCS upgrades, the team is currently working brownfield construction packages and needs someone that can identify where signals are in existing packages, go to the field, verify how its going to be migrated from one form to another. Existing project is an 8 year plant that has strange fiber connections and needs someone that can adapt and learn quickly.
The right candidate needs to be focused as much as possible on the instrumentation & controls. If they’ve been in the industry long enough, they can understand the electrical side.
Ideally if they come from a smaller company as opposed to an EPC
Will be modifying existing drawings, and create diagrams
Senior ideally 10 yrs experience
Controls technology – familiarity with migration projects (if they’ve done more than pieces of a job) Understand what a PLC or DCS is… when they’ve gone from an old platform to a new platform – if they’ve done one, it’s the same principals.
Projects range from very small (a couple of weeks) to 8 years
AutoCAD is primary, MicroStation is fine
Critical - they must be confident and capable of learning new things quickly. Must also be able to go and find answers
Field experience and understanding how to do the wiring connections is important – how to get from place to place
There is a big chunk of work creating issue to construction drawings – need to be able to understand distances
