A leading industrial manufacturer seeks a Director of Operations to oversee Machining, Forging, Assembly, and Test operations. This executive-level role reports directly to the President and is responsible for all manufacturing systems' overall direction, performance, and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on operations leader who can drive efficiency, enforce quality, and align cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results in a LEAN-driven, high-mix production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct all Operations functions, including Machining, Forging, Assembly, and Test
- Lead with a focus on cost reduction, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction
- Drive LEAN initiatives to minimize scrap, rework, and cost of quality
- Develop, implement, and track performance metrics for manufacturing effectiveness and throughput
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure regulatory compliance and quality standards
- Interface with customers, vendors, and subcontractors to align production goals and resolve challenges
- Foster a culture of accountability, process ownership, and continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 10–15 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with increasing leadership responsibility
- Proven success in leading multi-disciplinary teams across production environments
- Experience with Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred) and other continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong business acumen with the ability to make presentations and interact effectively with customers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders
Preferred Experience:
- Background in high-precision manufacturing or forging environments
- Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or industrial product sectors
- Experience integrating performance metrics to support data-driven operations
