Job Title: Environmental Compliance Specialist
Location: Port Arthur, TX - 1 Yr Contract
Position Summary:
This role involves assisting in the integration of specialized environmental requirements into company projects. Responsibilities include interpreting and applying scientific principles to formulate scopes of work, plans, and methodologies suitable for achieving desired objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provides environmental input to Engineering, Construction, and Subcontracts to ensure environmental requirements are integrated into project planning and design.
- Participates in meetings with customers and contractors to advise on environmental requirements affecting project design, construction schedule, and cost.
- Drafts Environmental Compliance Plans, Construction Environmental Control Plan (CECP), and project specific mitigation plans.
- Conducts environmental compliance inspections of project activities to monitor compliance with environmental requirements.
- Folllows up on non-conformances to ensure timely correction and maintenance of controls.
- Leads investigations on near misses and incidents as required.
- Maintains relationships with internal teams, customers, and contractors to coordinate technical/scientific issues.
- Contacts government agencies for information on new regulations and technical requirements.
- Maintains contact with ES personnel and professional colleagues to stay updated on advancements in the field.
Requirements:
- Formal training and certification in Root Cause Analysis is required.
- 5 years experience as a Root Cause Analyst in a large organization is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of best professional practices in conducting accident investigations and compliance audits.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a complex organization.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, engineering systems, and formal root cause analysis methodologies.
Education:
- BS in a specialized scientific field or 8 years related experience.
Additional Requirements:
The position requires physical ability to conduct field inspections, including walking, climbing, working at heights, and using Personal Protection Equipment.
