A leading multi-utility generation plant and district energy supplier supports one of the world’s most comprehensive industrial parks. Spanning a 1,200-acre campus, this facility owns and operates the utilities, infrastructure, technical services, and support services critical to a diverse range of industries.
We are seeking a Utilities Engineer specializing in Electrical Systems and Power Distribution. This is a key role within the team, providing technical leadership and stewardship for operating, maintaining, improving, and expanding a robust microgrid. The Utilities Engineer will be the senior technical authority for electrical generation and power distribution systems.
This position is not remote / hybrid and requires an on-site presence in Rochester, NY.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a long-range strategic capital plan regarding the operations & maintenance of the Eastman Business Park electrical distribution system.
- Provide technical assistance in the areas of medium voltage (600V to 34.5KV) distribution equipment, substations, transformer, switchgear, MV cable, and MV motors / generators.
- Provide power systems analysis for load flow and voltage drop, short circuit studies, equipment protection, and coordination, and arc flash studies.
- Knowledgeable with SKM Power Tools for Windows.
- Provide power quality analysis as needed relating to harmonics and system disturbances.
- Project management support, and Project Electrical Engineer function for projects both originated and customer driven. This includes oversight of contract project engineers.
- Provide MV Engineering assistance for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Medium Voltage systems.
- Provide Electrical Engineering assistance to all operating departments pertaining to building systems. Systems to include HVAC, reliable power, general lighting & power, IT cabling, cameras / security, fire alarms.
- Provide technical assistance in the area of low voltage (48V to 600V) distribution equipment, variable frequency drives, and motors.
- Provide technical guidance to EHS group relating to electrical safety compliance with applicable NFPA standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience in business development / manufacturing / energy generation / distribution environment preferred.
Minimum 10 years' experience in the engineering, construction and design of power plants, cogeneration and / or other multi-disciplinary, energy-intensive industrial processes
Proficient in MS Office
