Key Responsibilities:
- Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates and gather information as needed.
- Calendar Management: Organize and manage legal calendars, including scheduling court dates, meetings, and depositions.
- Document Drafting: Draft legal documents such as motions, complaints, and other relevant court filings.
- Discovery Management: Prepare and exchange discovery demands, responses, and authorizations.
- Medical Record Handling: Obtain, review, and exchange medical records and other relevant case documentation.
- Court Filings: File documents with the court, both electronically and in person, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Deposition Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule depositions with attorneys, clients, and opposing counsel.
- Administrative Support: Provide additional administrative assistance as required to support the smooth functioning of the department.
- Experience: 1-5 years of paralegal experience in a law firm environment, with a focus on personal injury, negligence, or medical malpractice cases preferred.
- MDEC Proficiency: Experience with Maryland's Electronic Case Filing system (MDEC) is strongly preferred.
- Certification: Paralegal Certification is preferred but not required.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
