EXECUTIVE OPPORTUNITYAN INVITATION TO APPLY FOR THE POSITION OFEXECUTIVE DIRECTORSOUTH SHORE EDUCATIONAL COLLABORATIVEMASSACHUSETTSThe South Shore Educational Collaborative (SSEC) Board of Directors invites highly motivated and innovative candidates with vision and a collaborative leadership style to apply for the position of Executive Director. The Collaborative is led by a twelve-member Board of Directors composed of the Superintendent of Schools from the following communities: Braintree, Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Milton, Norwell, Quincy, Randolph, Scituate, Weymouth, and Whitman-Hanson Regional School District. Through its mission, the SSEC is responsive to the emerging needs of the communities it serves by providing innovative, fiscally sound, high quality educational programs and services for individuals with special needs. Originally established in 1976, SSEC is located 15 miles south of Boston, Massachusetts.

The collaborative currently employs over 300 staff and provides specialized education, counseling, and therapeutic services for approximately 325 students from the south shore of Massachusetts and neighboring communities. Each program or school within the SSEC has a special focus to meet the learning needs of the individual student. Students attending the SSEC may have a diagnosis in the area of autism, emotional, specific learning, medical or physical disabilities. SSEC also understands and develops instructional and therapeutic programs for students who are challenged with multiple disabilities.

Students are referred to the SSEC by school districts throughout southeastern Massachusetts when the sending district has not been able to meet the educational and/or emotional needs of the student locally. The SSEC Board of Directors seeks a highly qualified educational leader with experience in diverse learning environments and strong fiscal management skills. At a minimum, qualified candidates must have: At least 5 years of demonstrated educational leadershipMassachusetts licensure as a School Superintendent, School Business Manager, or Administrator of Special EducationA masters degree with advanced degree preferredDemonstrated strong fiscal management skillsDemonstrated strong knowledge of special education laws and programmingThe SSEC Board of Directors is prepared to offer a multi-year contract with a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. Interested candidates applying for the Executive Director position must include (1) a cover letter with a brief description of how your qualifications and experiences align with the requirements of being an Executive Director; (2) a current resume which includes education and all certification/license status; (3) a minimum of three, but no more than five, recent letters of reference; and (4) verification of licensing status in Massachusetts.Screening of applications will begin shortly after the application deadline of November 30, 2023.
