What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Technician position at Neset Land Surveys?
Neset Land Surveys in Fargo ND has an opening for a Land Survey Technician with a $10,000 sign-on bonus *. The Survey Technician will primarily work under and report to a Survey Crew Chief and perform typical surveys in the field including topographic surveys, construction layout, ALTA and boundary surveys.
Skills necessary for the position are as follows:
- Trimble GPS and Robotic survey equipment
- 2-year Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or Land Surveying is highly desirable (applicable experience may be acceptable in lieu of an associate degree).
- 2 or more years of topographic and highway/roadway construction staking experience preferred.
- Capable or familiar with operating GPS, robotic and total station survey equipment.
- Familiar with survey data collection and construction survey methods.
- Experience with CAD programs such as AutoCAD/Civil-3D software
- Perform simple surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, and coordinate geometry software.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required.
- Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments.
- Must be Willing to accept that minimal overnight travel may be required
- Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills,
- A valid driver’s license is required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit and operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Required to work in an outdoors environment including construction sites and close proximity to traffic, noise and dust.
- Will require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with topographic and construction surveying.
- May be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, occasionally shovel snow and pound stakes with hand tools.
- Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds.
It is preferred that the applicant have at least 2 years of active field survey time and have a degree or certificate in a related field. Applicants with less experience may apply as there are multiple positions open.
This position is full-time with a benefits package including Health Insurance, PTO, and a performance bonus program up to 25% of base pay.
Wage depending on experience.
