NESN, the definitive source for New England sports programming, seeks a proactive and forward-thinking Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. This role demands a proactive approach, the ability to foresee potential challenges and opportunities, and the confidence to make and execute critical decisions with limited assistance. The successful candidate will be able to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Proactively manage and maintain physical, virtual, and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Oversee and ensure the reliability of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Administer storage infrastructure, including file shares and drive management.
  • Manage mobile device solutions for iOS and Android platforms.
  • Oversee user account and Single Sign-On (SSO) management for cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Administer and maintain office telephony systems.
  • Implement and monitor systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Manage remote desktop solutions for efficient support.
  • Administer file transfer servers.
  • Coordinate with vendors for support and manage support agreements.
  • Document all work processes and system configurations consistently and comprehensively.
  • Be proactive in identifying and addressing system challenges before they become critical issues.
  • Demonstrate foresight and strategic thinking when making decisions related to systems administration.
  • Work independently and confidently, making critical decisions and executing plans without significant guidance from peers or superiors.
  • Articulate complex technical ideas clearly to both peers and non-technical staff members.
  • Be willing and able to mentor colleagues in lower-level technology roles, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, addressing urgent issues as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration within a hybrid environment.

  • Proficiency in managing virtualization platforms and cloud services.
  • Experience with storage solutions and mobile device management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of systems monitoring and remote desktop management.
  • Familiarity with telephony and file transfer server administration.
  • Ability to create and maintain comprehensive and organized documentation of work processes and system configurations.
  • Proactive and strategic thinker with the ability to foresee challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to execute plans independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to support and develop peers in lower-level roles.
  • Certifications (Preferred) : Microsoft Certified : Azure Administrator, VMWare Certified Professional, or relevant certifications in systems management.
