Role Overview

20 Digits is looking for a highly motivated Data Base Administrator and Data Scientist that has experience with the Microsoft Power Bi Platform. The DBA / Data Scientist will enable data as an enterprise asset by delivering systems of insight and analytical architecture solutions to meet business goals and the needs of our customers. The DBA / Data Scientist will work within legacy systems as well as emerging technologies to provide the highest quality systems for its customers. The DBA / Data Scientist will also provide solutions for stakeholders and customers' reporting needs including the enterprise Power Bi Reporting platform. This role will work on a highly efficient and effective team that reports to the Director of Infrastructure.

All DBA / Data Scientists will interact in a professional manner by proactively establishing and maintaining effective working team relationships with internal and external customers. This includes NEST Team Members, NEST of Florida Team Members, 20 Digits Technology team members, Independent Service Providers (ISPs), and Clients. The primary interaction points with customers will be phone calls, emails, text and instant messages.

Role Specifics

More specifically, your key job tasks will be to :

  • Implements data models, database designs, data access and table maintenance codes.
  • Resolves database performance, capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues.
  • Works with technical and nontechnical staff to understand user and organizational needs, and to develop the database to meet functional requirements.
  • Consult with enterprise architect and development staff in design and optimization of application and database centered development and modifications to achieve optimal performance and best practices.

  • Create, maintain, and enhance ETL pipeline to integrate, scrub or manipulate data from various sources.
  • Assists in automating mass updates to database.
  • Assist in QA of internally developed applications.
  • Assists in studying and analyzing data processing functions, methods, and procedures. Makes recommendations concerning the feasibility of revising existing programs or adapting new applications to data processing operations.
  • Design and development of Power Bi reporting suite and associated Data Analytics platform.
  • Develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company databases.
  • Focused on performance, reliability and scalability, the Data Scientist translates development query and front side processes into optimized and efficient database architecture.
  • Creates comprehensive plans to address scalable demand using best of breed tools and systems to deliver performance.
  • High proficiency in database and / or SQL analysis and tuning; creates analyzes, translates and maintains large, complex logical and physical data models, metadata repositories, and data catalogues.
  • Proficient in data quality and integrity analysis and tools. Leads data requirements, architecture review, and modeling sessions.
  • Ensures all productions changes are made in accordance with lifecycle methodology and risk guidelines.
  • Works with stakeholders to define database standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform data modeling and define data entities and attributes of large scale, complex business application data.
  • Able to work efficiently around the 24 / 7 environment to do updates, and work after hours and on weekends when required as defined by business need.

Q ualifications : Knowledge, Skill, and Ability

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years' experience working with Microsoft SQL Server technology (2017 and higher) and Databases 10 years preferred
  • 5 Years Experience with relational database administration
  • Full operational grasp of Microsoft SQL Server, including 'Always on', replication and auditing.
  • Scripting skills (e.g. Powershell, Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure and Azure SQL server required.
  • Highly Skilled in data modeling in both operational, transactional and data warehouse design.
  • Practical application development experience on Linux and Windows-based systems
  • Experience with Azure Big Data Technologies preferred including but not limited to Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake.
  • Knowledge of database reporting software : SSRS, Power BI, etc..
  • Extra curricula software development passion (e.g. active open source contributor)
  • Good knowledge with Linux systems such CentOS, RedHat
  • Scripting or programming skills for automating tasks (Python, Shell)
  • Knowledge and experience with Software Version Control systems : GIT, SVN etc.
  • Familiarity with networking architecture (e.g Load Balancing, TCP / IP, Routing)
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • Education and / or Experience

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or relevant field.

    This is a Hybrid position but willing to do fully remote for the right candidate.

    Salary commensurate with job experience.
