Position Summary
Our Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to dogs and cats who help us learn and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human animal bond. When you join us, you'll work to ensure our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Research that contributes to innovative, first to market dietary solutions as well as trusted all life stage pet food. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city thus, providing many residential opportunities.
As a Lead Pilot Plant Technician, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving a dynamic and quality-focused environment. You will lead the execution of formulation and product manufacturing trials specifically focused on our wet food product lines. Come prepared to oversee, organize, and perform pilot plant trials, ensuring that they are conducted smoothly and efficiently.
- Act as a mentor and indirect leader for problem solving as it relates to trials
- Organize and prepare formulations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols
- Set up, operate, and clean food-processing equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness
- Ensure all trials have met the required release criteria
- Organize and record data in NesTMS as outlined in the pilot plant request
- Prepare summaries of trial results with recommendations for processing/product improvements based on observations
- Ensure all facility policies concerning safety, security, Good Laboratory and Good Manufacturing Practices (GLP & GMP) are followed in areas mastered
- Travel as required for factory trials, factory start-ups or training
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 5 years of internal Pilot Plant related experience OR 8 years of end-to-end manufacturing and/or mechanical maintenance experience
Other
- 3 years of experience with material handling equipment such as forklift, Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) equipment, motorized pallet jack, etc. is preferred
- 3 years of professional experience on a computer is preferred
- Working knowledge of factory pet food/food processing equipment and operations is preferred
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements necessary, such as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, to meet the expectations of job assignments
- Must be willing to work Monday through Thursday from 6:50AM-4:20PM and Friday from 6:50AM-10:50AM.
The approximate pay range for this position is $63,000.00 to $70,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
