Position Summary :

The Supervisor of Quality Lab Services oversees and manages the Analytical Laboratory, which supports testing of raw materials, finished bulk products, and third-party product releases. They supervise staff to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient work that complies with company policies, safety regulations, quality SOPs, cGMP, GLP regulations, and FDA regulations. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. This role requires extensive experience and judgment to plan and achieve testing objectives, while providing leadership and guidance to others. Creativity and independence are highly valued. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position based at our factory in Leonia, NJ.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the laboratory conforms to company policies, SOPs, cGMP and GLP regulations, and FDA regulations. Thus, ensuring that all laboratory personnel use the proper specifications or an associated compendial monograph
  • Distributework assignments and ensure on time completion and release of raw materials, bulk and third party products
  • Ensure raw material, in-process, bulk product, and finished product testing isscheduled efficiently and in support of production scheduling
  • Ensurethat products are released or rejected as appropriate
  • Anticipate problem areas and resolve issues before they impact compliance, productquality, and availability
  • Work with management to streamline operations to ensure that the department op Work with the staff for investigating all Out of Specification (OOS) results andproperly documenting them
  • Providetechnical support for Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and R&D (asapplicable) on questionable batches and results
  • Test support for stability samples, Tech Service and special request in addition to raw material, finished bulk and third party product release testing
  • Provide regular reports to management regarding products presently in the laboratory alongwith their testing status and planned completion date
  • Work withpeers in developing and implement laboratory documents (SOPs,Specifications, Protocols, Reports, etc.)
  • Coach subject matter experts on best training practices so that they can train new analysts on testing procedures effectively
  • Monitor overall laboratory safety and implement any action necessary to maintain safe work practices
  • Trainchemists as necessary

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or closely related discipline (extensive significant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree)
  • 10years of analytical laboratory experience
  • 5years of experience supervising or leading a technical team
  • Experience in chemical and microbiological methods using instrumentation including HPLC, GC, ICP, FTIR / NIR, UPLC / MS, ELISA and micro plate readers, or other chemical or microbiological techniques as required
  • Technical writing experience
  • Skills :

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.)
