Position Summary
The Internet Installation Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing internet services and related equipment at customer locations. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team to ensure installations meet Net NV’s quality standards and provide the best possible customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Configuration
- Install and configure modems, routers, and other network equipment at customer sites.
- Test and verify connectivity to ensure a stable and reliable internet connection.
- Troubleshooting
- Identify and resolve network-related issues such as weak signals, connectivity drops, or equipment malfunctions.
- Use diagnostic tools to pinpoint service problems and propose effective solutions.
- Customer Service
- Communicate installation processes and timelines clearly to customers.
- Provide training and guidance to customers on basic equipment usage and troubleshooting steps.
- Address customer questions and concerns in a courteous, professional manner.
- Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all relevant safety guidelines, including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure all wiring and equipment installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of installation services, equipment used, and troubleshooting actions taken.
- Generate service reports and update internal ticketing systems after each job.
- Maintenance & Upkeep
- Perform routine maintenance on installation equipment and tools.
- Conduct regular inspections of assigned vehicle and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field (e.g., Networking, Telecommunications) is preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in internet, cable, or telecommunications installation, or a related technical field.
- Technical Skills
- Solid understanding of home and small business networking concepts (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, routers, modems).
- Proficient with cable management, wiring standards, and fiber/coaxial/ethernet installation.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and network testing equipment.
- Soft Skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaborate within a team.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
- Licenses & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network , BICSI) are a plus.
- Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by customer needs.
