As we prepare for our first commercial deployment in New England in early 2025, we're seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Engineer to join our growing team.
About the Role:
As Lead Engineer, you'll be the technical mastermind behind our subsea data center infrastructure. You'll play a critical role in overseeing the deployment and maintenance of our state-of-the-art underwater facilities. This is a hands-on position that requires a deep understanding of both data center technology and marine engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and development of subsea data center systems, including:
Cooling systems optimized for submerged environments
Pressure vessel design and integrity
Corrosion protection and material selection
Power distribution and management
Data transfer and network connectivity
- Oversee the deployment and installation of subsea data centers, collaborating with contractors and partners.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures to ensure the long-term reliability and performance of our infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to define technical strategy and roadmap.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in subsea engineering and data center design.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in subsea systems design and deployment.
- Experience in data center infrastructure or related technologies.
- Strong understanding of thermal dynamics, fluid mechanics, and pressure vessel design.
- Familiarity with corrosion prevention techniques and materials suitable for marine environments.
- Experience with power distribution systems and data communication networks.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with subsea cable laying or underwater construction projects.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes related to marine installations.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems and their integration with data centers.
Location:
Ideal candidates will be located in New England or in nearby marine technology hubs like Halifax or St. John's.
