Location: Griffin, GA – 5 days onsite
Duration: 24 months Contract (Possible Extension)
Pay rate: $35 -$43 an hour on W2

Job Description:
The main function of a research engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical research engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings and read and interpret blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
• Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
• Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
• Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Debug marine engine and genset electrical/electronic technical problems
- Manage software flash & verify for marine engine and genset
- Manage electronic automated check activities for Gas engines
- Perform customer factory witness test demonstrations
- Perform engine ECM Wash and Flashing
- Support NPI design reviews (Design for Manufacturing)
- Support weekly marine engine and genset Quality Audits
- Support Quality Alerts / MESA for Electrical Issues
- Support marine engine and genset NPI prototype, pilot, and production ramp up
- Rework harnesses if practical
Typical task breakdown:
A typical day at Caterpillar Griffin facility will include supporting production team in resolving
- Troubleshooting fault codes on engines
- Troubleshooting software flash issues
- Aid in software validation of the Marine engines
- Create and troubleshoot harnesses used for software update
Technical Skills
(Required)
- Ability to troubleshoot & build harnesses
- Understand how sensors / actuators and other electronic components work
- Experience reading electrical schematics and harnesses
- Experience with engine electronic hardware validation or software development
Skills:
• Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Team player and detail oriented.
• Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
