Job Summary
The Manager of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through effective oversight of daily operations and staffing within the unit. This role includes monitoring nursing care provision, ensuring adherence to policies, and promoting accountability for quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight: Operationalize evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, ensuring adherence to care standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Evaluate clinical practices, supporting efforts to reduce variation and improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including equipment maintenance.
- Care Coordination: Facilitate interdisciplinary care coordination and ensure appropriate staff assignments based on clinical competencies.
- Leadership: Provide leadership to foster an exceptional patient experience and implement employee engagement practices.
- Staff Management: Manage nursing staff scheduling and maintain staffing in accordance with patient care needs.
- Financial Management: Monitor operating expenses, identify cost reduction opportunities, and implement savings initiatives.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of recent acute care leadership experience as a Charge RN, Supervisor, or Manager in Critical Care (relief charge experience is not qualified).
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Licensure: Florida RN licensure required.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required upon hire.
- Facility Details:
- 336 licensed beds, Level II Trauma Center with 42 Critical Care beds (18 in ICU/CVICU, 23 in the main ICU).
- Approximately 135 staff in the department, including managers, coordinators, RNs, and support staff.
- Position Opening: Due to a promotion to Director and a vacancy in the unit.
