Job Description:
This position is responsible for working with suppliers to develop and implement robust process controls that address and prevent defects in non-metallic components.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of APQP activities, including Process FMEA, Process Control Plans, and Gage R&R. They will be experienced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) and have excellent technical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement process control plans to ensure supplier quality management system adequacy.
- Provide technical support during start-up activities and monitor supplier adherence to Process Change Notification.
- Manage supplier project plans and activities to ensure product meets Caterpillar expectations.
- Ensure all relevant requirements and related changes are thoroughly documented.
Typical Day:
- Reviews APQP documentation, participates in process FMEA, and audits process control implementation and effectiveness.
- Validates process capability when applicable, ensures PPAP completion and approval prior to shipment of new parts, and ensures resolution and implementation of robust solutions for quality problems.
- Responsible for the review, approval, and validation of 8D permanent corrective action plans and participates in the development of Supplier quality metrics.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree required in a related field (Engineering); 2-4 years of experience in the field.
- Would consider associate's degree with adequate experience.
Critical Technical Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of APQP activities.
- Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
Desired: Experience with non-metallic components and processes.
