Job Title: Mechanical Engineer 3
Location: Peoria IL(Hybrid- 3 Days On-Site - 2 days Remote)
Duration: 24 Months Contract (Possible Extension)
Pay rate: $40-$48 an hour on W2
Summary:
The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- The Drivetrain Component Team has design responsibility for parts used across Caterpillar machines. This role is an Axle Housing Design Engineer in the Drivetrain Castings Component Team. Tasks will be directed by a Senior Engineer on the team and include concept modeling, stress & life analysis, assessing part nonconformance risk, amongst others.
- Support Senior Engineer by completing design tasks.
- Potential for additional responsibility depending on experience and demonstrated success in the role.
Typical task breakdown:
- Concept design and part modeling using Creo.
- Stress & life analysis
Education & Experience Required:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
Technical Skills
(Required)
- Proficient in Creo
- Understands basic geometric tolerancing
(Desired)
- Proficient in Creo Simulate FEA
- Experience in steel or iron casting design
- Practical / hands-on experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
Soft Skills
(Required)
- Strong initiative
- Effective verbal & written communicator
- Can manage individual tasks to meet deadlines
- Open to input & feedback from others
- Works well with other engineers, suppliers, and internal process partners
