Job Responsibilities
- Perform initial-response screening following protocols approved by the supervising provider.
- Escort patients to the room and prepare them for examination, procedure, and treatment.
- Obtain and record vital signs in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Obtain and record patient history using critical thinking skills.
- Prepare for, set up, and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments according to protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare, administer, and document oral and parenteral medications and immunizations as ordered by the supervising provider, ensuring accurate documentation following the six rights in the EHR.
- Document care provided during patient visits in the EHR.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies.
- Actively monitor and respond timely to patient requests via telephone, In Basket message, and/or My Chart according to identified time frames, and document responses in the EHR.
- Enter medication, radiology, and lab orders in the EHR for provider sign-off.
- Discharge patients, providing after-visit instructions to the patient and/or caregiver as directed by the provider.
