Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Emergency Room team in the absence of the Director, ensuring effective management of unit operations.
- Assess workload and resource needs, planning accordingly to maintain optimal patient care.
- Develop, review, and revise unit standards, ensuring alignment with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of staff, ensuring all competencies and licensure are current.
- Facilitate the orientation and onboarding of new employees, students, and volunteers to integrate them into the team.
- Foster open communication with other departments to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
- Conduct follow-up audits and evaluations to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required); BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program (preferred).
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligibility for a multi-state compact RN license.
- Minimum of 2 years of ER management experience required; Charge Nurse experience preferred.
- Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (required).
- Completion of Trauma Nursing Core Course and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of employment.
- PALS certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across departments.
- A patient-centered approach with a commitment to quality care and safety.
- Proficient in assessing operational efficiencies and implementing process improvements.
