Position Overview :

Net56 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firewall Engineer to join our team. The Firewall Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and efficient network infrastructure for our clients. This is an on-premises role. The candidate must have reliable transportation and be able to work on customer sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities :

Design, deploy, configure, and maintain firewall systems and related network infrastructure, including routers, switches, VPNs, IDS / IPS, and proxies.
Collaborate with the Information Security team to protect networks from unauthorized access, cyberattacks, and malicious traffic.
Monitor and analyze firewall logs and network traffic to detect and resolve security issues and incidents.
Conduct regular firewall audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
Update and document firewall policies, rules, and configurations; communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance to network administrators, security analysts, and IT teams regarding firewall-related matters.
Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues for endpoint devices and client networks.
Perform internet performance troubleshooting and optimization for endpoint devices.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies and upgrades to improve network security and performance.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers for firewall support, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Respond to emergency situations and perform effective troubleshooting during production issues.
Provide on-call support and work flexible hours as required to meet business needs.
Assist in the maintenance of general network infrastructure (switches and routers) as needed.

Qualifications :

Certifications (Minimum Requirements) :

Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching.

Fortinet Certified Professional Network Security and Fortinet Certified Professional Security Operations (e.g., FCP - FortiGate Administrator, FCP - FortiAnalyzer Administrator, NSE 5 / 6 certifications).

Experience :

At least 8 years of experience in routing and switching deployments.

Minimum of 5 years managing multiple firewalls in diverse environments (hardware and virtual platforms).

Hands-on experience with site-to-site and client-to-site VPN deployments.

Solid knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet firewalls, including Barracuda firewalls.

Experience with VMware vCenter / vSphere / HyperV platforms and Splunk.

Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of dynamic routing protocols.

Skills :

Proficient in network troubleshooting, fault isolation, and performance optimization.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing environments.

Strong customer service mindset with a results-oriented approach.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Comfort working in Linux / Unix environments.

Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
