We’re seeking an experienced Director of Finance to work with our Executive Management Team (EMT) to help manage our business. The ideal candidate must have experience as an accountant in life science, distribution, or related science industries, preferably in a senior financial manager role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will be asked to strategically manage our budgeting, payroll, and financial systems. The individual will routinely provide the business with detail and updated financial reports.
Objectives of this role
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
- Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape.
- Manage our financial and accounting team to ensure timely, efficient, and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
- Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions.
- Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development.
- Help develop and support short- and long-term operational and business strategies.
- Work CEO, President, and Business Owner to ensure financial business goal are achieved and all taxes are filed on time.
- Work with all business stakeholders to help business meet and exceed short & long-term business goals through business partnerships, acquisitions and/or by exceeding annual organic growth goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
- Establish (in coordination with CEO and President) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation and new tax laws.
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Required skills and qualifications:
- At least three or more years of professional accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of tax law and financial data analysis.
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
- Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- MBA or equivalent in degree in finance.
- Knowledgeable or work experience in Tax Law and/or Business Finance
- Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
