GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 Choose your own hours to work Monday through Sunday filling gaps as needed for full time clinicians. This is an on call, contingent position that requires at least 24 hours per month. Responsible for providing crisis oriented clinical services in the natural environment, including assistance to emergency personnel in dealing with crises involving major events (individual, family or community) such as hostage situations, traumatic events, suicides, child deaths, disasters, etc. and to emergency personnel in dealing with critical incidents as indicated.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

The work-from-home option is only available to those that live within a one hour drive to anywhere in Franklin County. Candidates who are interested in the position but are outside of that one-hour range of anywhere in Franklin County will be considered if they are willing or planning to relocate.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Provides prompt response to scenes when dispatched by Netcare Emergency Response Service. 

•    Works cooperatively with emergency personnel at the scene to assist in resolution of crisis situation. 

•    Makes appropriate emergency and crisis interventions at the scene with community persons. These include working with individuals who may be mentally ill and dangerous to self or others and with people experiencing acute trauma and/or grief. 

•    Provides immediate follow-up and appropriate linkage when indicated following the crisis intervention. 

•    Initiates and develops prevention strategies. 

•    Provides consultation and education services both on-site during crises and in trainings to emergency personnel. 

•    Performs crisis follow-up as indicated around specific issues that can be dealt with in a specified time frame. 

•    Maintains timely and complete documentation of services and activities, which meet the standards of Netcare and accrediting agencies. 

•    Performs short-term counseling around specific issues that can be dealt with in a specified time frame. 

•    Assures collection of appropriate client assessment information. 

•    Provides critical incident intervention as indicated when traumatic incidents occur in the workplace. 

•    Performs other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


•    Ability to rapidly form positive relationships and to work effectively with law enforcement, fire department, Red Cross and other emergency personnel. 

•    Ability to engage individuals in the community in problem solving process. 

•    Ability to relate to clients with a variety of age, economic/educational backgrounds, personality types and problems. 

•    Ability to deal with agitated or potentially violent clients. Excellent crisis intervention and de-escalation skills. 

•    Ability to work with individuals, families and groups in acute grief crisis. 

•    Ability to work in a variety of natural environment settings frequently under very chaotic and/or potentially dangerous conditions with police presence. 

•    Flexibility in dealing with a wide variety of critical and stressful work assignments as the need presents itself. Exhibits flexibility and ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
•    Ability to work in alternate locations as assigned, and able to perform on call as assigned. 

•    Skill in community education and training. 

•    Knowledge of the field of stress and stress management. 

•    Ability to achieve and maintain certification in required training programs. 

•    Ability to participate in extensive cross-training with a variety of emergency personnel. 

•    Ability and willingness to do complete and timely documentation and meet other policy and procedural requirements of the CCR program. 

•    Ability to work and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations. 

•    Ability to operate independent of mental health supervisor at scenes, consult as needed, initiate problem-solving activity as needed. 

•    Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of systems. 

•    Knowledge of community resources.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: LISW / LPCC preferred; plus 2 years crisis intervention experience; LSW,/ LPC may be considered with experience
