TITLE: Follow Up Clinician CLASSIFICATION: LSW/LPC: LISW/LPCC
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for providing follow up to individual callers to 988 to facilitate positive behaviors that will help client to prevent acting on suicidal thoughts and to improve their mental health and /or problems related to their substance use. Responsible for providing telephone triage as it relates to mental health and /or alcohol and other drug crisis intervention, and follow up services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows up with callers to 988 hotline, using active engagement and caring contacts to reinforce positive coping strategies and safety planning. Makes outgoing calls, texts, emails, letters to callers using “low demand,” demonstrating unconditional positive regard and reinforcing an individualized, person centered approach to coping.
- Makes appropriate internal/external emergency and crisis intervention referrals; dispatches crisis services (CCR, Probate Pre-screener, Older Adult, ROW ONE) and /or cab or 911 as appropriate. Involves police or ambulance only as a very last resort, only after all other attempts to assist the client are exhausted and an imminent threat still exists.
- Maintains timely and complete documentation of services and activities, which meet the standards of Netcare and accrediting agencies.
- Responds to all inquiries with compassion, a soothing voice, and uses clinical skill to de-escalate callers and ascertain risk.
- De-escalates individuals, selecting the least intrusive response. Establishes therapeutic rapport, conducts suicide risk assessment via Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale Screener. Safety plans with callers. Actively asks callers regarding gun access, and safety plans with callers regarding removing access to firearms.
- Attends regular virtual meetings with other Follow Up clinicians and management to chart progress of program and makes recommendations for improvements.
7. Actively seeks opportunities to develop clinical skills. Initial training occurs in person in Columbus, Ohio

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to engage in problem solving process.
- Ability to relate to clients with a variety of age, economic/educational backgrounds, personality types and problems.
- Ability to deal with violent or potentially violent clients.
- Ability to quickly assess and prioritize information received.
- May provide services in CIS East, West, or CSU as assigned.
- Exhibits flexibility and ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use a range of techniques and interventions.
- Ability to utilize reference material such as maps, directions and street locations.
- Basic knowledge of the demographic and human services network in Franklin County.
- Ability to work in alternate locations as assigned.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of personal computer to record client data, produce written correspondence or reports.
- Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with clients or others employee’s in person or over the telephone for a majority of the time.
- Ability to see well enough and have the manual dexterity and physical ability to access referral source and other information from a wide selection of manuals, texts, etc. while engaged in a crisis intervention telephone conversation with a client.
- Ability to achieve and maintain certification in required training programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
LSW/LPC; Licensed Social Worker Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio
