GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for providing telephone triage as it relates to mental health and /or alcohol and other drug crisis intervention. This position is the gateway to Netcare Access. Individuals in this class will perform duties under the supervision of the Director, Community Services.

Responsible for providing telephone triage as it relates to mental health and /or alcohol and other drug crisis intervention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Triage via the telephone by determining the severity of the client’s request; provides linkage to appropriate Netcare Access locations or other community services and hotlines.
2. Helps callers to Netcare’s crisis hotline, while expressing compassion, concern and expertise in helping them develop solutions.
3. Makes appropriate internal/external emergency and crisis intervention referrals; dispatches crisis services (CCR, Probate Pre-screener, Older Adult, ROW ONE) and /or cab or 911 as appropriate.
4. Maintains timely and complete documentation of services and activities, which meet the standards of Netcare and accrediting agencies.
5. Operates and responds to live chat requests.
6. Responds to waiting phone calls, and chat requests, within time parameters.
7. Monitors voicemail, responds as assigned.
8. Responds to all inquiries with compassion, a soothing voice, and uses clinical skill to de-escalate callers and ascertain risk.
9. Participates in peer review as assigned.
10. Participates in follow up activities, encouraging recently discharged clients to engage in treatment using motivational interviewing, including sending Caring Contact Cards to follow up when assigned.
11. Problem-solves with callers to the Homeless Hotline, attempting diversion from shelter whenever possible, and entering and managing homeless shelter waitlists and overflow beds.
12. Keeps Homeless Hotline records in homeless system database.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Ability to engage in problem solving process.
2. Ability to relate to clients with a variety of age, economic/educational backgrounds, personality types and problems.
3. Ability to deal with violent or potentially violent clients.
4. Ability to quickly assess and prioritize information received.
5. Exhibits flexibility and ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
6. Ability to use a range of techniques and interventions.
7. Ability to utilize reference material such as maps, directions and street locations.
8. Basic knowledge of the demographic and human services network in Franklin County.
9. Ability to work in alternate locations as assigned.
10. Demonstrated skills in the use of personal computer to record client data, produce written correspondence or reports.
11. Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with clients or others employee’s in person or over the telephone for a majority of the time.
12. Ability to see well enough and have the manual dexterity and physical ability to access referral source and other information from a wide selection of manuals, texts, etc. while engaged in a crisis intervention telephone conversation with a client.
13. Ability to achieve and maintain certification in required training programs.
