What is the scope of this role?
The Revenue Controller will play a critical leadership role in managing the company’s global revenue strategy and ensuring the accurate recognition and reporting of revenue in compliance with IFRS standards. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—Sales, Legal, and Delivery—to structure contracts and revenue models that optimize financial outcomes. You will lead the revenue recognition process, from contract review to reporting, and contribute significantly to the company’s budgeting and forecasting activities.
As the primary authority on revenue recognition, you will direct a global team, drive improvements in processes, and ensure compliance with IFRS, ultimately contributing to the company’s financial integrity and growth.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead global revenue recognition in compliance with IFRS15 and other relevant IFRS standards.
- Work closely with Sales, Legal, and Delivery teams to structure contracts and revenue models for optimal financial outcomes.
- Develop and improve revenue recognition policies, processes, and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Educate and train Finance, Legal, Delivery and Sales teams on revenue recognition best practices.
- Guide the optimization of ERP systems to enhance revenue processing and reporting accuracy.
- Oversee billing, credit, and collections to maximize cash flow.
- Manage the revenue-related components of external audits to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Lead and mentor a global team of revenue accountants, driving performance and alignment with strategic goals.
- Partner with senior leaders to provide strategic insights that support business growth and decision-making, including M&A and new revenue models.
- Occasional international travel may be required.
Experience and Requirements:
- 10 years of experience in global revenue recognition, preferably within the IT services/Software/Saas.
- Deep expertise in IFRS 15 - Revenue from Contracts with Customers and other relevant IFRS standards.
- Proven leadership experience in managing global teams and driving process improvements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex revenue recognition scenarios.
- Experience working with shared service centers to align global revenue practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex accounting concepts for non-financial stakeholders.
- Advanced excel knowledge is preferred
Education:
- BA/BS in Accounting or related field
- CPA is highly desirable
