About the role
As a Manager for the Broadcast Operations & Transmission team at Netflix, you will lead and manage a diverse team of full-time employees and contractors dedicated to ensuring the seamless operation and transmission of our live broadcast events. Your role will involve overseeing the team responsible for planning, executing, and running the event operations at Broadcast Operations Centers and remote locations. You will also be accountable for collaborating in cutting-edge broadcast technologies and workflows while fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
You will guide your team through the complexities of live event transmission, ensuring high-quality and reliable broadcast operations. This includes managing personnel involved in both on-site and remote functions. By working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive initiatives that enhance our broadcast capabilities and support the scaling of our live streaming efforts. Your leadership will be pivotal in maintaining operational excellence and pushing the boundaries of the Live Broadcast Technology group.
Responsibilities
- Oversee broadcast operations assignments and work shifts, including engineering operations and personnel management.
- Review event calendars, assign resources (operators, equipment, utilities), and manage logistics, ensuring accurate scheduling and team member availability.
- Manage the relationship and budget between Netflix and our MSP for TX operations labor.
- Coordinate broadcast operations activities during additional events, such as test events, opening and closing ceremonies, and official announcements.
- Handle administrative tasks and service orders, while managing budgets to guide operational decisions that enhance scalability and cost-effectiveness.
- Engage and collaborate with third-party transmission companies and contractors to ensure seamless operations and high-quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with broadcast engineering and broadcast systems teams to develop workflows and features that enhance automation and operational efficiency.
- Monitor progress, manage risks, and resolve issues promptly, escalating urgent matters as necessary.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct post-event assessments to evaluate broadcast operations, identifying successes and areas for improvement.
