Job Overview
The Recreation Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating recreational events and activities within our facility. This role involves managing staff, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants, and enhancing the overall resident experience. Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all operational and administrative aspects of the Recreation Hall, community involvement and pools
· Ensures efficient, quality service is provided, assisting residents with information, services, reservations, and requests
· To provide a safe and pleasant atmosphere for recreation and ensure a quality of excellence for the Nettles Island Community and staff
· Observe and adhere to all established procedures and budgets
· Supervise, train, and assign tasks to the Recreation & Pool staff.
· Establish goals with available resources
· Prepare work schedules for all employees monthly
· Plan and organize functions and events (rec sponsored and club sponsored) and staff assignments
· Solicit volunteers to assist with Rec Sponsored events
· Ensure that the Recreation Department is properly staffed
· Participate in the interview process; make hiring recommendations Final decision shall be approved by the Condo Manager
· Evaluates subordinate staff with Condo Manager in advance of meeting with employee. Discipline must be in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
· Refer department complaints to appropriate Supervisor or Condominium Manager as necessary
· Have an in-depth knowledge of all recreational products and services relating to the Recreation Department
· Maintain MSDS book for all chemical products used and assure staff follows MSDS procedures
· Oversee or input all scheduled events and reservations in software program
· Assure all bulletin boards are kept in accordance with established policy and procedures
· Assure all BOD meetings are set up and prepared for appropriately
· Assist clubs with their activities and the annual spring festival
· Instruct staff on set up of the room(s) for all activities
· Handle resident complaints regarding rec hall, staff, and conditions
· Oversee the publication of the bulletin and requests from Clubs for notices relating to recreation events
· Prepare and deliver Recreation Activity Report monthly, or more often as needed, at the Board Meetings
· Participate in hurricane preparedness and restoration as needed
· Account for all monies received daily. Balances petty cash monthly or more often, if needed. Oversee preparation and delivery of daily deposits to the condo office
· Assist in answering incoming telephone calls and respond to emails
· Keep detailed lists of all furniture and equipment located in inventory for insurance replacement inventory
· Conduct inventory of all furniture and equipment and report any equipment insufficiencies and any security breach to Security personnel and Community Manager
· Work with Condo Manager to prepare a proposed budget for the recreation department
· Order supplies and place work orders for repairs for the Recreation Department as needed
· Monitor and direct building custodians and check all portions of buildings for cleanliness
· Planning and overseeing all floor stripping and waxing schedules with Maintenance Dept
· Record and back up all documentation and correspondence regarding Rec Department for future reference
· Update Rec Department Procedure Manual annually
· Report all incidents and accidents immediately to Condo Manager. Monitor condition of recreational equipment and supplies, including gym equipment.
· Follow all Recreation governing documents concerning Rec facilities
· Provide support to the Board of Directors, and all management with confidence and reassurance
· Additional tasks as requested by the Condo Manager
Qualifications (including mental and physical requirements)
· Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures, and objectives effectively throughout the community
· Represent the Association positively in the community.
· Must be capable of working under pressure, as well as organizing and planning efficiently
· Must have effective analytical skills for assessing and evaluating staff
· Supervision skills should include objectivity and fairness
· In-depth knowledge of recreational products and services
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Highly organized, efficient data entry
· Remain positive, cordial business-like conduct
· Able to work cooperatively with other staff members
· Contribute positively to team effort
· Able to work without supervision when necessary
· Able to keep business information confidential
· Accomplish tasks in a timely and efficient manner
· Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
· Must have good hearing and good eyesight
· Must be able to bend, reach and climb ladders
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
· Must have valid driver’s license
