CLAIMS ADJUSTER JOB DESCRIPTION :
- Handle primarily Commercial Auto claims with varying degrees of complexity and severity, including but not limited to third party personal injury / no-fault losses
CLAIMS ADJUSTER RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provide superior customer service to meet the needs of the insured, claimant, all internal and external customers, including carrier clientsEvaluate policy coverage, contact insured’s, attorneys, and medical staff to determine injuries stemming from an accident while determining and establishing reserve requirements.Recognize and apply jurisdictional issues that impact the claim (i.e. : negligence laws, financial responsibility limits, immunity, etc.)Plan and conduct investigations (including but not limited to interviewing parties involved, collecting and evaluating documentation and securing evidence and protecting the chain-of-custody) to analyze coverage and compensability.Manage different lines of coverage requiring specialized investigation and utilization of external experts in accordance with local lawsEstablish and maintain appropriate claim and expense reserves in a timely fashionMaintains accurate records and handles the medical management file handling responsibilities associated with the claims. Records and updates status notes, and documents results of contacts, relevant medical reports and duration information per file posting standards.Document claim file activities in accordance with established proceduresWrite denial letters, reservation of rights, tenders and other routine and complex correspondence to insureds and claimantsConfer with higher level technical claim personnel for guidance and direction to ensure files are handled properlyDetermine settlement amounts based on independent judgment, application of applicable limits and deductiblesAssess injuries associated with claims and conduct negotiations to settle claims within authority limitsIdentify subrogation opportunitiesMeet all quality standards and expectations based on Best PracticesMay be involved with litigation as necessaryEffectively manage multiple competing priorities to ensure timely payment, follow-up and claim resolutionCLAIMS ADJUSTER QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum of 1 year of experience in personal injury or no-fault insurance claims handling. Driven individual who has demonstrated success in a claim adjusting roleAbility to communicate effectively with individuals from all backgrounds and uphold our high standard of customer serviceThorough knowledge of insurance coverage, contracts, claims handling guidelines, legal and medical terminologyAbility to analyze information, such as medical records and legal documentation. The starting salary for this position is $65,000 ; factors such as licensing, certifications, work, and relative experience will be taken into consideration.
