Job Summary: The Yard Associate plays a critical role in the effective management and organization of the laydown yard. This position involves handling, moving, and storing materials and equipment using various heavy machinery. The ideal candidate will have experience operating equipment such as skid steers, lulls, forklifts, and other necessary tools to ensure smooth and efficient yard operations. The Yard Associate will be responsible for maintaining an organized yard, supporting inventory management, and ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. Flexibility to work in two shifts (morning and afternoon) is required.
Responsibilities:
Material Handling:
Receive, unload, and organize materials and equipment in the laydown yard. Safely load and unload materials from delivery trucks and trailers. Ensure materials are stored correctly to prevent damage and facilitate easy access. Pickup/Deliver materials and equipment to/from other laydown yards and job sites
Equipment Operation:
Operate skid steers, lulls, forklifts, and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently. Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Yard Manager/Supervisor.
Yard Management:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment. Ensure all materials are labeled and stored in designated areas. Assist with the implementation of yard layout plans to maximize space utilization and operational efficiency.
Inventory Control:
Support inventory management by accurately tracking materials and equipment. Conduct regular inventory counts and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager. Assist with the preparation of materials and equipment for outgoing shipments.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in safety training sessions and drills. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the Warehouse & Fleet Managers, and other team members to meet operational goals. Communicate effectively with delivery drivers and external vendors. Provide support to other warehouse/yard associates as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery such as skid steers, lulls, and forklifts.
- Valid driver’s license and any required certifications for equipment operation.
- Must have (or be willing to obtain) OSHA 10 certification.
- General mechanic skills are a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to yard and equipment management
