What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery coordinator position at Network For Hope (NFH)?
At Network for Hope (NFH) the Tissue Recovery Coordinator (TRC) is responsible for facilitating the recovery, preservation, and transportation process of donated corneas, bone and other tissues and organs according to industry standards consistent with the mission, vision and values of Network for Hope.
The TRC may also be required to perform non-technical duties such as maintenance of supplies and facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Tissue Recovery and Preparation
1. Performs donor identification, reconstruction and postmortem body preparation and assists with the cleaning and sanitation of the operating room and / or recovery area.
2. Arranges and prepares the use of operating room at contracted hospitals and / or the recovery suite.
3. Oversees the logistics of transporting donors to and from the operating room, morgue, or recovery facility as appropriate.
Receives and releases donors and / or packaged tissue into and from the clinical facility as applicable by region.
4. Performs aseptic recovery of tissues while maintaining the sterility of the work area in accordance with NFH policies and procedures.
5. By use of surgical / medical instruments, collects blood, tissue samples, and cultures per procedures.
6. Responsible for post recovery decontamination of room, instruments, and equipment. Responsible for wrapping instrument trays and delivering to sterilization as applicable.
7. Responsible for recording supplies received and stocking the supply room daily as applicable by region.
Regulatory Compliance
1. Adheres to the regulations and standards set forth by the Food and Drug Administration, American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Responsible for ensuring all recovery steps are completed according to standard operating procedures and Quality standards.
2. Verify recovery documents are accurate and complete and verify blood samples and cultures are labeled correctly.
3. Responsible for reviewing assigned Standard Operating Procedures, attend meetings, complete assigned trainings, and routinely check emails.
4. Responsible for following tissue services guidelines regarding attendance, daily tasks, mileage, holidays, Paid Time Off, and schedule.
Other Duties
1. Consults with the Tissue Leadership or affiliated tissue bank coordinator when indicated.
2. Attends meetings and continuing education programs as directed.
1. Provides public and professional education programs as directed. Assists with the training and mentoring of new personnel as directed by Tissue leadership.
Education, experience and training
- Education : High School Diploma, or equivalent. Post-secondary education or training in a medical or related field is preferred.
- Experience : Prior health care, pathology, or funeral home experience preferred.
- Licensure, Certification, and / or Registration : N / A
