Summary:
Administers physical therapy treatments to patients, delegates and coordinates skilled therapeutic interventions to physical therapy assistants and physical therapy aids, by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Competent in performing examination and evaluation including patients’ history, body systems review, test and measures, outcome measures, develop plan of care and progress for the plan of care.
Demonstrates extensive knowledge and interest in learning integrated facets of neuro-rehabilitation and stays updated to the latest research and breakthroughs in clinical practice.
Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs.
Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
Observes and documents patients’ therapies during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patients' responses to treatments and progress.
Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and assistive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
Confers with members of rehabilitation staff and other health team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
Gives orientation to new Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, and directs and gives instructions to Physical Therapy Aides.
Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms.
Measures patient's range-of-joint motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist to compile data for patient evaluations.
Provides direction and supervision of treatments administered by Physical Therapy Assistance and Physical Therapy Aides.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) from a college or university; at least two year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Current valid certification/license as a Physical Therapist in the State of Florida. #ZR
