Position Title: Systems Analyst III
Location: Remote with occasional on-site work in Washington, DC
Type: Contract (On-call, up to 200 hours annually)

Job Summary
We seek a highly skilled Systems Analyst III to support the Merit Systems Protection Board's (MSPB) IT infrastructure. This role involves maintaining and configuring Microsoft Azure environments, troubleshooting complex network issues, and supporting Microsoft 365 applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Azure Configuration and Maintenance:
- Configure, troubleshoot and maintain Azure cloud services, including Virtual Machines, Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, and certificates.
- Support Microsoft Front Door, MFA, and domain services.
- Network Administration:
- Administer and troubleshoot network components such as TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and network security architecture.
- Monitor network performance using tools like Azure Monitor, System Center Operations Manager, and Microsoft Sentinel.
- Microsoft 365 Support:
- Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 applications and services to ensure smooth operations.
- System Troubleshooting:
- Perform server performance troubleshooting and implement security enhancements.
- Conduct security audits and recommend improvements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed change management logs and create operational documentation.
- Provide weekly and monthly status reports summarizing activities and progress.
- Report security breaches within one hour of discovery and assist in incident response.
- Emergency Response:
- Provide on-call support within two hours for critical outages during and outside business hours.
- Collaborate with CIO and IRM staff to resolve issues promptly.
Qualifications
Education:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- In lieu of a degree, 8 years of experience (with at least 6 years specialized) is acceptable.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of IT systems experience, with at least 3 years in specialized roles, including:
- Microsoft Azure environment configuration and management.
- Active Directory and Federation Services administration.
- Entra ID and Entra ID Connect troubleshooting.
- Administering network architecture and security.
Certifications:
- Preferred: Microsoft Certified Associate Azure Administrator or Azure Network Engineer Associate (ANEA).
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in server performance troubleshooting and security auditing.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of stakeholders.
Other Requirements:
- Secret-level security clearance.
- Completion of privacy and security awareness training prior to starting work.
- Ability to respond promptly to emergency outages and prioritize tasks effectively.
Work Environment
- Location: Primarily remote, with occasional on-site work required at MSPB headquarters in Washington, DC.
- Schedule: Standard business hours (8:30 AM 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday) and on-call availability for emergencies.
