Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to treat a variety of conditions. We are looking for self-motivated, dependable individuals who have prior experience or those who would be excited about the opportunity to have hands-on training to work as a TMS technician.
The ideal person will be excited to learn all they can about what we do in the new TMS Treatment clinic and its sister clinics Cognitive FX and Neural Effects. You must be someone who enjoys engaging with people, developing a rapport with them, and helping them feel comfortable. Patients should feel that they are in a safe and compassionate environment, which promotes healing. A mindset of constant self-improvement is required.
Position Summary
The TMS Technician is required to support the Clinical Director, Psychologist, and Administrator. They will direct and coordinate patient care under a treatment plan developed by the Clinicians. Treatment sessions will require the technician to ensure the accuracy of treatment coil placement and monitoring of the patient throughout the treatment course.
Primary Expectations
Staff in this position must display a high level of motivation, attention to detail, responsibility, and reliability. The TMS technician must excel at engaging and developing a rapport with patients and actively collaborate with other team members to give patients a streamlined and personalized experience. They must be capable of acting and adapting quickly when necessary. Experience or interest in helping individuals living with depression and other psychological or physiological problems.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Maintain up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field
- Desire to learn, grow, collaborate, and improve skillset
- Capable of identifying and responding appropriately in high-stress or emotional patient situations
- Type at least 35 wpm
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education as approved by the manager
Essential Job Functions
- Monitoring of all aspects of treatment sessions to ensure the comfort of the patient and the accuracy of treatment.
- Educate patients on TMS procedure, any possible side effects, and answer patient questions
- Thorough documentation of patient interactions and treatment episodes
- Provide a caring, comfortable, and safe treatment experience for the patient
- Guide and check in with patients through various therapeutic activities
- Interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
Additional Responsibilities
- Sanitizing equipment and treatment areas
- Ensure all office areas are neat and sanitary
- Support and assist with front desk duties as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- One year experience in a medical, patient-oriented setting
- Two years’ experience in a customer service-oriented setting
- Bachelor's Degree
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours per day. Frequently walks, bends, crouches and stoops. Constantly operates a computer, neuronavigation technology, and other tech. May occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently communicates with patients, staff, and providers and must be able to express oneself clearly and accurately.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a temperature-controlled, indoor office setting. The work environment may sometimes be loud and distracting.
Schedule
This is a FULL-TIME position working shifts of 6-10 hours, 5 days each week. These hours will be scheduled and regular, with shift length determined in advance. Shifts will be between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
