Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable EEG Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing electroencephalograms (EEGs) and assisting in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with neurological conditions. This role requires a strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, such as a Level I or Level II Trauma Center.
Responsibilities
- Conduct EEG tests on patients to assess brain activity and identify abnormalities.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort.
- Apply electrodes to the patient's scalp according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients during testing to ensure safety and comfort.
- Record and analyze data from EEG tests, documenting findings accurately.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss results and contribute to diagnostic evaluations.
- Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Stay updated on advancements in EEG technology and techniques.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to neurological assessments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to EEG procedures and patient care.
- Experience working in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center is preferred.
- Ability to assess vital signs and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Proficient in diagnostic evaluation techniques related to neurology.
- Understanding of emergency medicine protocols as they relate to EEG testing.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to detail in recording data and following procedural guidelines.
- Ability to perform EMG's is a plus.
