Position Overview:
The Medical Biller will be responsible for managing the entire billing cycle, from claim submission to payment collection. This role requires a self-motivated professional who can work independently, maintain accuracy, and ensure compliance with medical billing regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with neurological and neuromuscular billing, understand insurance policies and coding requirements, and be proficient in handling denials and appeals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately submit medical claims to insurance companies (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers).
- Review and verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Process and track claims, ensuring timely reimbursements.
- Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and discrepancies.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and work on collections as necessary.
- Post payments and reconcile accounts.
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and staff regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Keep up to date with medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS) and payer policies.
- Generate reports on billing activities and revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience, preferably in neurology or specialized care settings.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical billing/medical coding certification is a huge plus.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to review and submit accurate claims, reducing denials and rejections.
- Independence & Efficiency: Must be able to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
