Patient Intake Coordinator
Position Summary:
We are recruiting Patient Intake Coordinators (PIC) who will welcome, register, and admit patients at Neurotherapeutix. S/he gathers information about the patient and create patient records. They make appointments and schedule procedures for future medical treatments. They also answer questions related to services, insurance and MRI and make proper arrangements for their proper implementation.
PIC Job Overview
In the role of an intake coordinator, you will greet patients and collect personal information, medical histories, and insurance details relevant to admission for services. You will address patient inquiries and concerns. Success in this role will be demonstrated by your attention to detail and organizational abilities. You should also possess strong interpersonal skills and exemplify excellence in customer service.
PIC Responsibilities and Duties
Interviews patients and completes admissions paperwork
Verifies patient insurance coverage and benefits
Schedules appointments for consultations and other healthcare services
Answers phones and completes associated clerical tasks
Creates and maintains patient records
Screens the patient for MRI safety and schedules MRI
Coordinates with an usher to escort the patient into the MRI center
Support patients in the insurance reimbursement process involving (filing prior authorization, collect necessary information from patients and providers to provide to insurance company, follow-up with insurance companies to ensure timely processing, document interactions during this process, provide patients with information necessary for claims to be submitted, submit appeals, extension requests, and organize peer-to-peer review as necessary, collecting and submitting all information necessary for those processes)
Support marketing efforts for the clinic, in collaboration with NuStream marketing company; collect data on conversions and recruitments, monitor data on advertising campaign, work with our marketing companies to optimize marketing campaigns, troubleshoot issues, develop the website, and collaborate with other professionals for referrals.
Cover the front desk a couple hours a day carrying out the responsibilities of that position.
PIC Job Requirements
Associate’s degree in Medical Office Management, Medical Staffing, Health Administration, or related field
Professional certification for healthcare coordinators is preferred
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Strong customer service acumen
Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus
EXPERIENCE:
Computer and keyboard skills. At least 2 years of experience in medical management, medical claims processing, or managed care environment required.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Demonstrates effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills. Ability to work accurately and pay attention to details. Often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and a changing work environment related to changing patient needs, including working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes and those who are dying. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system; with patients and family members; and with multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, HCC, clinical managers, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills to effectively problem-solve and deliver care.
