What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Deputy Attorney General position at Nevada Attorney General's Office?
This attorney position represents the State of Nevada in criminal prosecution proceedings in state court
and reports to the Director/Supervising Deputy Attorney General of the Worker’s Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit.
Primary duties include drafting legal pleadings, reviewing and preparing cases for trial; interviewing witnesses; working
with law enforcement officers; conducting preliminary hearings, grand jury proceedings, and bench and jury trials. This is
primarily a litigation position. A significant portion of this position’s duties involve prosecuting fraud by individuals
making false claims against insurers under NRS 616D.200 and NRS 686A.2815.
Minimum Education And Background: Graduation from accredited law school and licensed in Nevada or eligible for
limited practice certification. Must possess valid state driver’s license at time of appointment.
For Senior Deputy Attorney General: Minimum of five (5) years as a licensed attorney. Valid state driver’s license required.
Preferred Experience: Preference to those with current or recent criminal prosecution experience. A working knowledge
of federal and state criminal statutes, rules of evidence, local court rules and criminal procedure a plus. For Senior DAG:
The applicant should have skills for reviewing and preparing cases for trial, interviewing witnesses, working with law
enforcement officers, handling various stages of litigation hearings and a working knowledge of federal and state criminal
statutes, rules of evidence, local court rules and criminal procedure.
Skills Required: Must possess strong written and verbal communication, planning, prioritizing, and executing timelines
without supervision. Must exhibit professionalism, organization, self-motivation, punctuality, and leadership skills.
