The Peer Support Specialist provides peer support services to clients under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services. the Peer Support Specialist will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills:

Since 2015, Nevada Behavioral Health Systems has managed the mental health and substance abuse services for residents of Nevada. We have created a network of providers who focus on the core principles of recovery: strengths-based, person-centered, individualized treatment and support for people with mental illness and substance use disorders. NBH has developed a comprehensive, community-based system of care by contracting with experienced providers offering evidence-based services. We contract with a wide variety of behavioral health care providers to respect and ensure member choice and meet our members' special health care needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interact with clients as a peer by sharing common experiences and modeling resiliency and recovery.
- Meeting with clients regularly to offer one-on-one support and counseling.
- Developing recovery plans, coping methods, and rehabilitation strategies with the client.
- Arranging medical appointments, therapy sessions, support groups, and other resources to aid the client.
- Monitoring the client's behavior, schedule, medication, and activities.
- Reporting any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to the relevant professionals.
- Coordinating the client's logistics such as medical appointments and therapy sessions, among others.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year's experience as a peer support specialist.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly compassionate and attentive to detail.
- Experience demonstrating an understanding of the principles of recovery and resiliency
