What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Officer position at Nevada Beverage Company?
Job Summary: The main goal of the safety officer is to help maintain a safe work environment. The safety officer will compile safety programs and standardize them to remain consistent, as well as share best practice techniques at regular staff meetings. To ensure success as a safety officer, you must stay updated with the latest trends in health and safety, and consistently implement these practices in the workplace. Ultimately, a top-notch safety officer will maintain compliance with all safety regulations and ensure that every member of staff complies with the regulated standards.
Essential Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• Lay out a vision for safety. Create an emergency response plan
• Identify and monitor hazardous situations, often including risk categorization
• Minimize hazards and proactively reduce risk in the workplace
• Communicate and collaborate about safety and health throughout the organization
• Maintain all insurance regulations, paperwork and processing
• Create and track safety-related objectives, metrics, and goals for the organization
• Investigate incident or near-misses and lead root cause analysis
• Enforce safety standards and processes
• Create and share a formal Occupational Health and Safety Policy
• Act as the representative that can speak to safety and health as needed for the organization
• Create, maintain, and improve policies and systems related to safety—all designed to create a culture of continuous improvement
• Perform regular patrols, inspections, evaluations, walk-throughs of facilities and properties
• Lead Safety Committee Meetings including Document staff information, minutes of meetings, and reports compiled for management
Additional Responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must have good customer service skills and communication skills and present themselves in a professional, neat, and clean manner at all times, always representing the Company positively. Must have a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record. Physical requirements include the ability to push/pull a manual pallet jack with up to 1500 pounds of weight, the ability to use a hand truck with up to 500 pounds of weight, and the ability to move product weighing 30 to 50 pounds from ground level to waist level. Must attend all required Anheuser-Busch and Nevada Beverage Company training courses.
Education and Experience:
High school Diploma required, College degree preferred but not required. Previous experience in a safety role and OSHA certifications required.
