POSITION SUMMARY
The Courier supports the mission, goals and values of Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN) by performing scheduled and dispatched pick-ups and deliveries. The Courier is responsible for receipt, storage, transport, and delivery of tissues, organs, biological samples, and supplies. Responsible for the daily inspection, refueling, and general maintenance of assigned vehicle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Works in conjunction with all NDN service lines to perform a variety of duties associated with the pick-up and delivery of biological specimens and clinical supplies.
- Employs Standard Precautions, including the use of personal protective equipment as needed, when handling and transportation of biological specimens.
- Transports biological specimens in approved containers, coolers, etc. maintaining specimen integrity based upon organizational policies and rules and regulations from accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Cleans and decontaminates transportation containers, as needed.
- Works with NDN staff ensuring courier requests are handled in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the Chain of Custody and the safe disposition of tissues/samples in their possession
- Documents Chain of Custody for specimen disposition, generates reports, and correspondence in approved applications and/or database(s).
- Maintains confidentiality of patient/donor private health information.
- Provides exemplary customer service to and communicates effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicates with the NDN service lines to resolve any issues with specimens, orders, and supplies.
- Follows all driving laws, regulations, and posted speeds as directed by Nevada Department of Transportation (“NVDOT”).
- Maintains order and cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
- Inspects assigned vehicle prior to use for operational safety and visible damage; reports any findings to Manager.
- Fuels assigned vehicle as needed utilizing NDN authorized vendors and/or payment methods.
- Performs daily stocking, loading, and unloading of assigned vehicle.
- Stocks cabinets and other specified areas with all necessary supplies, as directed.
- Follows policies and procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow Standard Operating Procedures as set by the company, and guidelines set by regulatory agencies, to include but not limited to: Organ Procurement and Transplantation network (OPTN), American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB, Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), American Society for Histocompatibility and immunogenetics (ASHI) an the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Participate in the development and achievement of individual scorecards to reflect individual, departmental and company goals.
- Arrive to work, pick-ups, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
- Enter and maintain data in the Quality Management System application to include but not limited to: Investigation, Corrective Action / Preventive Action (CA/PA), Supplier, Customer, and Assets Modules
- Assist Facilities and Inventory teams with daily tasks during down time
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager of Facilities.
Education: High school or GED
Experience: Three to seven years of experience in an inventory position in a regulated industry, maintenance of an electronic inventory management system strongly preferred.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of accounting software. Working knowledge of inventory management software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Word and Excel. Proficiency of Q-pulse data tracking software or equivalent.
Certificates & Licenses: Nevada State Issued Driver License
Other Requirements: Substance to include THC, No History of DWI/DUI, Clean Driving Record for past 5 years, 20/20 vision (corrected)
