Nevada Humane Society (NHS) is seeking a creative and dynamic Marketing Manager to help tell the impactful stories of the organization in innovative and engaging ways.

This role will focus on showcasing the lives we touch, from the animals in our care to the people supporting our mission. The ideal candidate will blend strategic marketing with storytelling, ensuring our message resonates across diverse platforms.

As the voice of NHS, you will engage our community, drive adoption campaigns, and raise awareness, all while staying current with trends in the animal welfare sector and digital marketing

$65,000 to $75,000 per year

Total Compensation:

A successful candidate will have these demonstratable skills:

  1. Lead Storytelling Across Channels: Craft compelling narratives around our pets, programs, and the life-saving work of NHS. Ensure each story showcases the impact of our work and engages audiences in meaningful ways, utilizing various digital platforms, social media, email campaigns, and print materials. Ensure that all stories are optimized for each platform, from Instagram to our website. Adapt messaging to suit various audience segments and engage them effectively in the conversation around animal welfare and adoption.
  2. Content Creation and Strategy: Develop creative content strategies that capture the essence of NHS’s mission, bringing our adoptable pets to life through compelling storytelling. Maintain a strong focus on narrative-driven marketing to create deeper connections with our community and encourage adoption and donations.
  3. Creative Direction: Lead the design and production of marketing materials, ensuring that every piece aligns with our brand identity and communicates our values in an engaging way. Oversee the creation of visuals, including photos, videos, and graphics, that tell the story of our pets and our mission.
  4. Brand Management and Consistency: Take full ownership of the NHS brand, ensuring consistent messaging, visual identity, and tone across all marketing and communication channels. Work across departments to ensure that all materials align with the established brand guidelines, maintaining a unified look and feel in all public-facing content. Periodically evaluate NHS’s brand presence across all platforms and materials. Conduct brand audits to ensure alignment with our core values, identify areas for improvement, and recommend strategies for strengthening brand consistency.
  5. Research and Trend Awareness: Stay on top of industry trends, observing what other shelters and organizations are doing, and find fresh, innovative ways to tell our story. Use these insights to enhance our campaigns and stay relevant to our audience’s evolving preferences.
  6. Digital Marketing Expertise: Manage and optimize social media campaigns with an emphasis on narrative-driven content. Use storytelling to increase engagement, boost awareness, and build lasting relationships with our supporters.
  7. Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with various departments, including Animal Care, Clinic and Client Services, to ensure that all storytelling efforts are aligned with NHS’s broader goals and objectives. Create content that amplifies key messages and events, ensuring that our mission remains front and center.
  8. Campaign Management: Plan, execute, and measure the success of storytelling campaigns, focusing on driving adoption rates, raising funds and increasing engagement. Regularly review and analyze campaign data to ensure continuous improvement and impact.
  9. Lead a Team: Provide leadership and mentorship to the Pet Marketing Coordinator and other team members, fostering a creative, collaborative environment. Encourage innovative storytelling techniques and creative problem-solving.

Qualifications


Essential Duties/Functions:

 

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the mission, programs, and philanthropic activities of the Nevada Humane Society.
  2. Collaborate with senior leadership to define marketing goals, objectives, and KPIs aligned with organizational priorities.
  3. Conduct market research and analysis to identify target audiences, trends, and opportunities for growth.
  4. Coordinate the creation, distribution, and optimization of Nevada Humane Societies' published business objectives, mission, values, consumer engagement, community repute, using content across various channels, including digital platforms, social media, print materials, and events.
  5. Work closely with all departments to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with brand identity and values.
  6. Manage content calendars, scheduling, and tracking to ensure timely delivery of projects and maximize impact.
  7. Lead the design process, overseeing the creation of visually compelling graphics, illustrations, and layouts that support marketing initiatives.
  8. Stay updated on design trends and emerging technologies to enhance the organization's visual communication efforts.
  9. Plan, execute, and evaluate integrated marketing campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and support for Nevada Humane Society.
  10. Monitor campaign performance, analyze data, and make data-driven recommendations for optimization and future strategy development.
  11. Manage campaign budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful outcomes.
  12. Collaborate with internal teams, including philanthropy, clinic, and animal care, to align marketing efforts with organizational objectives and priorities.
  13. Foster positive relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to maximize the reach and impact of marketing initiatives.
  14. Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.
  15. Stay abreast of current marketing trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies to inform strategic decision-making and campaign optimization.
  16. Monitor and analyze the marketing efforts of other animal welfare organizations to gain

insights into best practices, audience engagement tactics, and fundraising strategies. Adapt the learnings to enhance the Nevada Humane Society's marketing initiatives.

  1. In the event of an emergency, assist with the handling and evacuation of animals located at either Nevada Humane Society campus.

 

General Duties/Functions:

Helps promote fundraising activities and solicit support of agency overall.

  1. Participate in disaster preparedness and response activities for the shelter and community as it pertains to pet related needs.
  2. Interacts with co-workers and volunteers in an efficient and courteous manner to ensure a cooperative team environment amongst all departments.
  3. Maintain and promote a positive public image standard relevant to the Nevada Humane Society.
  4. Professionally represents Nevada Humane Society with customers, donors, and business partners.
  5. Attend and participate in departmental and shelter meetings. Attend educational conferences/seminars as recommended/approved.
  6. Address and/or report any safety hazards or unsafe use of NHS equipment.
  7. Perform other duties as requested by direct management, and/or the CEO.

Working Conditions: Air-conditioned office or air-conditioned building with computer and internet access. May require travel within a workday on a regular basis. Work is also performed outdoors and/or offsite for shelter events. Use of personal vehicles may be required for fieldwork; mileage allowance will be provided.

 

Equipment Use: Telephone, cell phone, computer, printer, scanner, copier, and other office-related equipment. May require use of personal and company vehicles.  

 

Work Hours: This is an hourly position that requires flexibility. While a typical workweek will be 40 hours, days off, or scheduling may change based on the needs of the organization, attendance at events and other functions may require longer hours or holiday, weekend, and evening work.

 

Mental Demands: Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and handle various levels of stress. Position requires excellent organizational skills, as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Must have adequate judgment and self-confidence to handle decision-making duties. Must be able to meet deadlines and delegate appropriately.

Must be a team player able to give and receive instructions and work effectively with all staff.

Requires exceptional attention to detail, courteous and professional demeanor, extensive interaction with staff and public, Ability work with staff and volunteers in a fair and ethical manner.

Requires the ability to think clearly, act quickly and utilize sound judgment in a variety of situations. Requires the ability to be self-disciplined and self-motivated.

Must be able to endure long hours and remain alert, energized, and positive.

 

Physical Demands: This position may involve desk and computer work and being on your feet for long periods of time. Position may include (vehicle) travel back and forth to outside venues as well as some lifting.

Must be able to work at a fast and efficient pace. Requires lifting heavy objects more than 50 pounds. Ability to safely handle and control animals of all kinds.


Desired Experience: Experience in the same or related position in a nonprofit setting-preferably animal welfare.

Record of continually increasing responsibilities with measurable results. A sincere interest in Nevada Humane Society’s mission and vision and increasing visibility within the community.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; or equivalent commensurate experience.
  • Proven experience in marketing management, with a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in graphic design with a portfolio showcasing work.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Experience with the major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, lnstagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat and TikTok.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics software, including Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and Twitter Analytics, to track audience engagement and campaign performance.
  • Experience with content management systems, word processor applications, and image/video editing software.
  • Ability to function independently, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new developments in the community, especially as it relates to animal welfare.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written and observational skills.
  • Must be goal-oriented, self-starter with a willingness and maturity to go beyond prescribed work and time schedules and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada or California Driver’s license with valid registration and insurance of personal vehicles.

 

General Qualifications:

  • Must have a passion for animals and support the mission of the Nevada Humane Society.
  • Must treat animals humanely, with love and concern both on and off the job and transmit these values to others.
  • Must adhere to all local laws regarding personally owned animals.
  • General knowledge of pet behavior and care. Ability to work with all kinds of animals in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Positive attitude a must!
