Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, provides educationally-related assessments, individual and group counseling to students and families with emotional and behavioral needs. Services are delivered in school-based and individual formats related to mental health syndromes, substance abuse, violence and conflicted relations within the parameters of the Nevada Joint Union High School District’s Mental Health as a Related Service for Students with Emotional and Behavioral Needs Plan. Position is contingent on Mental Health funding.
Term: 9.5 month position (192 days, 7 hours per day)
Salary range: Appropriate salary schedule placement
Under Supervision of: Director of Special Education/School Psychologist
Qualifications:
Education Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Certified in First Aid and CPR. Possessed valid CA Drivers license.
Experience At least one year experience with high school age children and families preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Medical Category I:
1. This position requires normal physical strength and endurance for standing, sitting, bending, or walking.
2. Work assignments are normally located in a work environment with light physical work and required light physical effort.
3. Lifting requirement: 25 pounds maximum or carrying any object weighing over 15 pounds
Responsibilities/Duties:
1. Assist in the design and implementation of prevention strategies.
2. Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to students who self-refer or are referred by a parent, teacher or administrator for issues related to mental health, substance abuse, and/or violent relationships.
3. Provides school-based and individual services to students and their families.4.
4. Performs screenings, evaluation, assessments, and recommendations for services.
5. Acts as a crisis intervention therapist.
6. Conducts therapy groups.
7. Attends planning, staffing, IEPs, 504s, and other meetings as requested.
8. Performs psychotherapy under a current California State License such as LMFT or LCSW or equivalent.
9. Collaborates with teachers, counselors, Special Education staff and administrators.
10. Collaborates and makes referral with/to community agencies e.g. Child Protective Agency, Nevada County Mental Health, Nevada County Probation Department.
11. Understands and follows FERPA and Mandated Reporter regulations.
12. Other related duties as needed.
Salary : $73,248 - $87,404
