Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The Infrastructure Work Planning (IWP) Division is looking for a R&D Planning Supervisor II to supervise Work Planning for experimental operations across the NNSS.
Key Responsibilities
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709 , “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $101,254.40-$162,011.20.

The Infrastructure Work Planning (IWP) Division is looking for a R&D Planning Supervisor II to supervise Work Planning for experimental operations across the NNSS.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Maintenance and R&D Planning Manager, the R&D Planning Supervisor will serve as the subject matter expert for work planning & control requirements in support of SEO, ECSE, T&O, GS, and Geo Science activities across the NNSS and at satellite locations.
- Supervise daily operations of R&D Planning Team.
- Establish planner work assignments and/or work projects and directs work package planning.
- Participate in facility and project meetings and provides status updates to stakeholders.
- Interface with execution organization management to ensure proper prioritization of work planning.
- Ensure planning team is compliant with the Integrated Work Control Process.
- Ensure activity level work documents (ALWDs) meet quality standards.
- Provide employee feedback and performs employee performance reviews.
- Track, coordinate, and provide status updates to Maintenance and R&D Planning Manager on the development of ALWDs.
- Monitor performance against metrics and goals as established/approved by Maintenance and R&D Planning Manager.
- Prepare reports and graphs to illustrate work performed and work forecasted.
- Coach and mentor the planners as needed to maintain morale and performance.
- Participate in Infrastructure Work Planning Division process improvement initiatives.
- Provide subject matter expertise and enforcement for institutional work planning processes, requirements, and process improvements.
- Provide supervisory engagement to mitigate issues and remove roadblocks.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Must have experience in planning and work control.
- Must have IBM Maximo experience.
- Previous experience as supervisor, or superintendent experience preferred.
- Highly desirable to have experience in a Department of Energy or Commercial Nuclear facility.
- Possess planning and organizing skills.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal communications skills to deal with contacts in an effective, positive, and professional manner.
- The primary work location will be at the North Las Vegas complex of the Nevada National Security Site (subject to change).
- Position may require regular travel to NNSS (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada), other areas located further into the NNSS, as well as occasional travel to satellite locations.
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
