Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center is looking for a Certified Surgical First Assistant to support an Orthopedic Surgeon in the operating room. Working under the direct supervision of the surgeon to ensure a safe and efficient surgical procedure. Assisting with various tasks, including positioning the patient, draping, exposing the surgical site, handling tissues, and assisting with closure. They will also help with preoperative and postoperative patient care, including monitoring patient status and preparing the room for surgery.

Responsibilities:
Surgical Requirements:
· Positioning and Draping: positions the patient on the operating table and drapes them appropriately, ensuring proper exposure of the surgical site.
· Exposing the Surgical Site: using retractors and other tools to maintain clear visibility for the surgeon.
· Tissue Handling: handle tissues and organs, assisting with delicate procedures.
· Hemostasis: assist with controlling bleeding using sutures, cautery, or other methods.
· Suturing and Closure: assist with closing the surgical wound, placing sutures, and applying dressings.
· Instrumentation: prepare and pass surgical instruments to the surgeon.
· Assisting with Special Equipment: assist with the use of specialized equipment like microscopes or laparoscopes.
· Monitoring Patient Status: monitor the patient's vital signs and alert the surgical team to any changes.
Preoperative and Postoperative:
· Patient Preparation: help prepare the patient for surgery, including skin preparation and applying sterile drapes.
· Room Preparation: ensure the operating room is properly prepared with instruments, equipment, and supplies.
· Post-Surgical Care: assist with post-operative care, including removing dressings, applying drains, and transferring the patient to recovery.
Qualifications:
- Completion of CAAHEP Accredited program
- CSFA - NBSTSA Certification for Certified Surgical First Assist
- Minimum of five to ten years certified surgical tech experience strongly preferred.
